Phases
Planning application submitted
Following consultation with residents, stakeholder groups and the Council, Rocco Homes has now submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of 53-59 High Street New Malden to the Royal Borough of Kingston.
Rocco Homes vision for 53-59 High Street New Malden
As you may recall, we held a series of public consultations over the last few months where we received a vast amount of feedback from residents. The project team have reviewed this feedback and, where possible, incorporated the community’s thoughts into the proposals.
Rocco Homes vision for the site includes:
- Delivery of 49 new homes, significantly contributing to meeting Kingston’s housing need;
- Flexible and modern 592 sqm of flexible commercial, business and service space floorspace meeting the needs of the community;
- Exemplar architecture complementing and enhancing the High Street and Cambridge Road;
- High quality communal amenity space with biodiverse podium gardens including open space and children’s play space;
- Provision of affordable new homes and new affordable commercial space;
- Creation of approximately 46 new jobs;
- Emphasis on green and sustainable travel with cycle parking and free membership to car club;
- A 64% reduction in carbon emissions;
- A significant improvement in biodiversity and focus on environmental and ecological enhancements;
- New active frontages and improved, safer public realm along the High Street, Cambridge Road and Sussex Place;
- Heritage links to the sites past using artisan paving techniques and historical information plaques; and;
- Investment in local infrastructure through the Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106 contributions.
