Plot A - Nine Elms Park, Wandsworth

Background

Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) in partnership with Quadrant Estates, recently purchased Plot A from the Royal Mail Group.

Plot A is one of eight plots being developed at Nine Elms Park and has planning permission for a 12-storey office building. The masterplan for the 14-acre former South London Mail Centre creates a vibrant, new neighbourhood in Nine Elms surrounding the Linear Park, including new homes, a primary school and a new office building at Plot A. 

The delivery of Plot A will continue the transformation of the site.

What’s happening at Plot A

AIMCo is keen to deliver the new office building as soon as possible but would like to make some minor adjustments to enhance the approved scheme and better appeal to prospective tenants.

In essence, the changes adapt the approved scheme to:

  • Create a more vibrant and dynamic ground floor by altering the layout of the entrance to improve the building's relationship with the Linear Park and access road (Moat Street)
  • Create more active frontages to the surrounding area
  • Increase biodiversity and provide a greater sense of wellbeing for office users by adding more planting and trees, green roofs and rooftop terrace
  • Provide additional cycle parking, circa 50 spaces, to encourage sustainable travel
  • Provide a larger retail space
  • Improve the layout of the floor space throughout the building, providing an increase of approximately 2,500 m2 (GIA) of floorspace overall, including affordable workspace

The design and appearance of the building itself is largely unchanged from the consented scheme.

Your feedback

The minor changes will require planning permission from the London Borough of Wandsworth and the Quadrant team is discussing the amendments with planning officers.
